forward to Friday
Iron Maiden, The Final Frontier
Their best since Seventh Son, seriously.
I got to school before 7, made my copies, & prepared to sit with the other sophomore English teachers in yet another workshop that would lead to something that maybe meant nothing, at least until anything else came along.
But, things actually happened.
We didn't just complain about what we can't do.
We got stuff done.
We came up with ideas that have the potential to make things better.
In the very near future, we will introduce a pretty cool system geared toward improving your education as well as our API.
Stay tuned . . .
& listen to some Maiden--you are guaranteed a history lesson along with your head-banging.
Up the Irons!!
& . . .
be cool
(by the way, Finbar turns 7 at 10:09 AM tomorrow)

Ahhhh so this is the new "Forward Friday" (name pending) that we talked about in class today? Huh I wonder how this will turn out... Hopefully it will boost our API scores and not just make us dread English class on Friday.
ReplyDeleteFraptuous Friday.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I appreciate the historical aspect of their lyrics, Iron maiden's music always leaves me wanting a little more from the music end. They basically sound like every other metal (or whatever you like to call it) band around. I mean none of them (besides Nicko)have very much musical talent as far as their instrumment goes. They do very Dragonforce-like riffs to make it sound complicated, but its really not. I propose you listen to this instead:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grNa5n-YZaA All of these people HAVE to have crazy talent on their instrument to play this. listen to it a couple times, and focus on a different instrument..... its Viper jazz.. .the "risque" thing to play in the 1930's
ReplyDeleteA low whoosh can be heard as that last comment went a bit over my head...
ReplyDeletealso this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG1dWRamqUA
ReplyDeleteElla Fitzgerald... can't go wrong. "When I get low, I get High"
On a slightly off-topic note, I found an excellent example of irony: http://www.motivatedphotos.com/?id=99411
ReplyDeleteRandom? Yes, yes it is.
Hilarious? Far more so.
Noah: we're starting the "Forward Friday" test-prep w/ sophomores & I think some freshman classes, so though we will prep for the CSTs as well as the 2012 AP Lit exam, we will not go through as painstaking detail w/ you all . . .
ReplyDeleteChloe: bonus for the Iron Maiden-backed-w/-Ella Fitzgerald posts (Maiden usually referenced as "power metal," but since Powerslave have fit more neatly into the "progressive metal" category, if a category need be) . . .
Noah again, nice, very nice
