"finally, a song I know"
I heard something like that each period of the day.
Song of the day: "When You Were Young."
The Killers, Sam's Town.
Big uproar when this one came out, because (gasp!) . . .the guys looked different. They went from Duran Duran to Bruce Springsteen. Didn't sound a lot different, but gave up the skinny ties for facial hair.
Good band, & singer Brandon Flowers has a solo album coming out next week.
Juniors:
Jonathan Swift had a fantastic mind, & he has made a ton of folks laugh out loud in the past 300 years. & yes, he has also angered lots of people. Today you got a taste of his "Thought on Various Subjects," & we had a pretty good little discussion on nice men, vision, religion, love & hate.
You also got started on the reading, & for tomorrow you will have read the 2 letters & chapters 1, 2, & 3 from Book I.
HINT: the Lilliputians are really small.
Sophomores:
"The Pedestrian."
Dude just wanted to take a walk . . .
We went over the "completing the sentence" exercise, & you know that tomorrow's vocabulary quiz will have definitions, synonyms, & completions.
Many of you have been choosing not to do the homework, & that will negatively affect your grade, as you don't get those points . . .& it's hard to know the words if you, like, don't know hte words.
So, let's do this!!
(Double-exclamation point!!)
Also, vision & hearing screening tomorrow.
OR Update 1.3 due Friday..
"Forward," I say.
FORWARD!!!
(& large-style "be cool")

I like Sawdust WAYYYY better. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteLiking a b-sides collection more than an actual album is akin to saying that your favorite CD is the greatest hits one, Chloe.
ReplyDeletei LOVE when you were young oh my lanta great song!!
ReplyDeleteOh Chloe, one day that mouth of yours is going to get you in trouble...or get someone else into trouble..
ReplyDeleteHappiness and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteGo humans! C:
[/irrelevance]
That was waaaayyy too optimistic for me, Valerie, so I retaliate as thus:
ReplyDeleteYes, I am a pessimist, but if the world did not suck so much, we would all fall off.
[/more irrelevance, but a but darker]
& the beauty of life is that happiness, cynicism, sunshine, pessimism, humans, & "sucking" (gravity?) all coexist
ReplyDeleteYet not always peacefully... we TOLERATE each other...
ReplyDeleteTALBOT. I hope this message reaches you. I don't like it because its their "greatest hits" I just really hearing them all natural sounding not like their usual over-mixed selves. Just sayin.
ReplyDeletethe proper order:
ReplyDelete1. Sam's Town
2. Hot Fuss
3. Sawdust
4. Day & Age
ehh. I like the songs on Sam's town and Hot fuss, but they're over edited.
ReplyDeleteI didnt really care too much for Day & age
Hot Fuss seemed like they were just getting their sound together (don't get me wrong, love them) but Sam's Town (to me) was basically the extension of that. Again, have all the albums and love the band a lot. Sawdust.... was kinda their experimentation (or at least I think so) just because a lot of the music on that album sounded, I guess more technological (like, of course Shadowplay, but maybe even Tranquilize, where I love the use of Lou Reed!) but the reason I like Day & Age the BEST is because it ties most into a theme. The music itself, kinda corny, really startin to fall into the norm, but the entire album all together I thought, was great. I know Sam's Town is a theme too and all, but Day & Age really stuck to the whole, on a journey to "a new day & age".
ReplyDelete-Holly
